Rare 9 Kestner Christmas Angel Flying Store Display Closed Mouth 24 K Gold Leaf

Rare 9 antique early Kestner Flying Angel on a wood stand made for the French market. This Kestner swivel neck angel doll was made for Christmas Store Display with an unusual one piece angel body that flies on a wire and wood stand I believe is original to her. Her bisque head has been lighted and she has no chips, no cracks, no hairlines. Her head is marked 4, with a deeply slanted head cut.

She has delicately painted with multi stroke brows, set blue glass eyes, and nicely painted closed mouth, no bisque flaws to her head. She has a handmade platinum blonde mohair braided wig in very nice condition, and has a cardboard pate inside. Her composition body is nicely molded with chubby arms, body, and legs. Her glazed light brown wings were a worn to base compo so I had them covered in real 24 K gold leaf that shows the details of her wings.

Her original carved wood staff she holds in her hand hole was also done in gold leaf. She came wearing only the red ribbon sash, it looks old, do not know if it is original to her.

Her compo body shows light wear, small stress crack in right arm and the toes on one foot look touched up long ago. Her original stringing was deteriorated so she has been restrung, her wings were strung into the back holes. This is a rare Museum quality Kestner Angel. I have seen a similar looking Kestner Angel doll in the Golden Glow Christmas Article many years ago, titled "Christmas Angels". She is from my personal collection.

I have many more photos of her if needed. She is guaranteed to be an original antique with no damage to her bisque head.
