Rare 9 Kestner Bisque Angel Doll Closed Mouth Antique Store Display Christmas

This is a very rare 1880-90 early 9 Kestner Christmas Angel doll made for the French market. A Kestner closed mouth swivel neck is marked only 4. She has smooth bisque head with no damage, no chips, cracks, or flaws. She wears her original set platinum blonde mohair wig set in tight curls almost like new, no plaster plate. She has a stunning square face, closed mouth, feathered brows with blue paper weight set eyes all original. Her neck swivels on her rare angel composition one piece chubby body with moving wings. The body is in very nice original paint, one small stress crack at her inside elbow, looks like retouched paint at her toe tips. The detailed wings on her back are 24K gold leaf & wooden sceptre is also gold leaf that she holds. The wings were light brown color glaze that was worn down to the paper mache so I had them preserved in 24K gold leaf.

The red ribbon tied on her appears original to her. Her original stringing was broken when I received her and she was restrung like the original stringing to hold her wings in place so they move. I was told her rare angel body was used as a Christmas Store Display. The base or stand is black painted wood, unmarked with her original wire that is bent so it slips into the stringing holes of her wings to hold her upright or can push rod farther into hole for more of a flying position, not sure which position is correct.

The metal wire has to be carefully inserted so as to not chip the compostion body which looks wonderful! Her arms are beautifully sculpted to hold the sceptre or staff in right hand and the other is bent with character! Her lower body has chubby sculpted legs with nice detail to her knees, buttocks, and feet. She has light crazing in a few spots.

I tried to list all flaws which are few considering her age and delicate nature. This is not just a rare 9 closed mouth early Kestner Museum quality. I can take more photos if needed, I lighted her head and see no damage or repair to her, guaranteed to have no cracks or repairs. She comes from a non smoking home, no smells. She comes with her stand and sceptre.
