Rare Antique Edison Mazda Automobile Lamp Light Display Cabinet Case 1920-1925

Great Edison Mazda Automobile Lamps Display Cabinet. Awesome Litho Graphics & Light Up Option. Approx: 24" High x 12" Wide x 9 Depth. Exceptional and rare Edison Mazda Automobile Lamp Store Display Cabinet with terrific lithographic images. Features a lovely Lady in Early 1900's Style Dress holding a box of Edison Mazda auto bulbs. Printing on front reads, "Name Your Car I'll Light It". The side panels have very a prominent GE emblem and the Sun peeking around the Earth where it reads, "His Only Rival" as there is an Edison Mazda bulb on other side of Earth. Almost impossible to find one this nice. The graphics almost jump out at you. 1909 was the first year Edison used the Mazda name. There has been some minor modification to the case, as a newer grounded plug-in electric light screw-in sockets have been installed in the cabinet with an easy on/off switch. These would have originally been battery operated most likely & perhaps they were to test bulbs to be bought (our guess). Also, the back of box likely had a metal cover or other cabinet attachment at one time, but it has been replaced with a single wood panel. It would have had more shelves inside at one time, but only has the top shelf now. They stored the light bulbs on the shelves. It did not have functioning lights. We found a couple of these old cabinets with the light bulb openings at top, but they appeared to have been battery operated at the time. We also found a few that had additional attachments to back of cabinet, allowing for more Edison Mazda bulbs to be stored with display as noted above.

So, it appears there were at least a few different design options for these depending on how they were used or displayed. We did not find any however, with functioning light attachments in place. We took multiple pictures for your consideration, please look over and use zoom if needed. We acquired this store display from a very selective collector's treasure trove. He literally traveled all over the US tracking down the best of the best advertising signs and displays he could.
