Wow very old and rare. Metal is shaped like batteries, but they are not actual batteries, that's what makes this piece so inviting. It says batteries cost ten cents, but when were flashlight batteries ten cents? It's 18 by 10 by 9.5.
It must be preserved and restored by a serious collector. It's all metal and much wear and needs an overhaul to clean debris. Yet it's beautiful in its own way. It can stand on its own as a spectacular piece. I have not seen one of these before.Told it goes back to 1920s and my research backs this up. Everready batteries were created like this in the 1920s for flashlights which interestingly hit the market in 1905. Bottom tray comes out but also needs deep cleaning.
I think it would be a major addition to a vintage garage collection. Really just amazing to gaze at. This item is in the category "Collectibles\Advertising\Merchandise & Memorabilia\Store Displays".
