RARE Vintage 1920s BONZO FROST FONES RADIO Store Display mascot Crosley pup dog

Extremely rare papier-mâché sculpture of Bonzo advertising Frost Fones radio headphones. He has a cigarette in his mouth and a light bulb for an eye. You may be familiar with Bonzo advertising the Crosley pup radios, and the figures they made.

Well, according to my research, Crosley never asked for permission to use Bonzo. It is likely that Frost Fones also were using the famous dog without approval as well. The squinting eyes, the grin, the markings, all classic Bonzo. Best of all is the cigarette and headphones, making this one of the most stylish depictions of the dog. The figure has a lot of wear from age, paint and paper loss, dust dirt and darkening.

The bulb is not connected to anything, it just sits in his eye socket. The cigarette (or what is left of it) appears to be original, but is far too fragile to transport in his mouth. It requires support of toothpick to stay in place, but I used to keep its pieces in a baggie and just replace it with a modern cigarette when displayed.
