Vintage Animated Automaton Cobbler Store Display Wooden 1930s Rare 100% Original. Carved wooden cobbler bench store display. This is a great store display piece of American advertising. This piece is 100% original and in perfect working condition with the cobblers. Head and arms leaning forward and moving to simulate him sewing a shoe sole. Riginal to the piece are the little tools and material that are stored on the cobblers storage area on his bench. This automation is made simple but solid and well with strong colors. There is a tiny bit of flaking on the pants, head and slight stain on the shirt but expected for its age. This was found from a 5 & 10 thrift store from the 1930s. With the exception of the somewhat modern power cord, It's never been touched. It's a great piece and can appeal to all different types of collectors. I believe the wood is knotty pine and birds eye.
