Vintage Gabriel Shock Absorbers Rare Store Display Clock Howard Jobber 4887
Vintage Gabriel Shock Absorbers Rare Store Display Clock Howard Jobber 4887. Excellent cosmetic condition with minimal signs of wear to the front - just some minor scuffs/scratches.

Incredible condition for its age. Measures 36.75" x 8". Was found at the plastic factory where the plastic front of it was made (likely in the 70s). Has been in storage there for decades and was recently found along with dozens of other vintage signs from the 60s-90s. In other words, it was never distributed from the factory.

The clock works, however please note that there is an issue with it that you will want to consider. When you first plug it in, it likely will tick time backwards instead of forwards. It has done this to me every time I've plugged it in except for once. However I have figured out a way to easily fix it (it takes 5-10 minutes) and even recorded a video showing you how to do it and posted it with the photos.

The only step I don't show is that you have to unscrew the 4 regular head screws from the back of the clock mechanism on the back of the sign, then pull out the clock mechanism. Then you will see what I'm showing in the video, which shows me using a small flat head screwdriver to simply reverse the gears. I'm not sure why it wants to go backwards, but it's possible someone in the past didn't follow the instructions on the back of the clock mechanism.

Each time I have used the screwdriver trick it has worked like a charm and I have left it running for a few days after doing the trick and it continued to tick forwards in time and actually kept time perfectly. Maybe you're smarter than me and can find a better, more permanent way to fix it! Please make sure you check out the photos which show the actual item you will receive. Note that I have included a video.
